January Weigh-In

When it comes to goal setting, accountability is huge in finding success. This year, as one of my resolutions, I set a goal to lose weight. So, I’m using this blog to give myself some accountability in achieving those goals!

I haven’t yet decided how often to post my weigh-ins. But, this month, I have to post for the end of the month.

When I went to step on my scale at the beginning of the year, I discovered that my scale needed a new battery. I’ve had this scale for 5 years and never had to change the battery. Long story short, it took me a while to get to the store to get the lithium battery I needed. It wasn’t until just the other day that I finally got a change to weigh-in.

January 29 – 187.6 lbs

When I began this year, I started off guesstimating that I weighed 190 lbs. After I had my baby, I had issues with my blood pressure and was going to my gynecologist weekly. They weighed me each time so I knew where I had been on my last visit which was just a few days before the end of the year. I feel confident that I began 2018 at around 190.

My Weight History During Pregnancy

Before I got pregnant, I weighed around 197. I know, these seems like a bit of a random number, but it’s the most accurate. Whenever I weighed myself, I never came in at or over 200 or below 195.

During pregnancy, I did very well in not gaining too much weight! In the beginning, I had monthly appointments. At times, I’d maybe gain 2 pounds. There was even one time I didn’t gain anything!

It wasn’t until my third trimester that I started to gain more weight during my visits (which had gone to every 2 weeks and then once a week).

At my final doctors appointment before the birth of my baby, I weighed 229 lbs. I was really satisfied with myself! I hadn’t gained too much weight during this pregnancy which would make it easier to lose it after the fact.

Postpartum Weight

As I mentioned before, I had to go to the doctor on a weekly basis after giving birth. While tedious, it did give me a chance to track my weight loss. On that first visit, I was down to 205 lbs. I couldn’t believe it! I had never had a weight loss like that in my life. Sure, having a baby isn’t the same as losing weight with your normal, everyday body. But, it made me feel really good.

Each time I went, I lost more and more weight. It made me really happy to see that it was all just falling off of me. One of my fears I’ve always had about being pregnant is how difficult it is to lose weight after.

I Still Have Work To Do

I was very happy with what my weight was when I stepped on the scale yesterday. Having looked at my body and knowing my eating habits, I was nervous that I would weigh more than 190. But, I guess I’m doing something right!

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to work out this month. I’m still trying to manage a routine with working and having a baby. I’m so exhausted by the end of each day that I can’t think of doing anything but relaxing. I have done some yoga every now and then. But, what I really need to do is some cardio and weight training.

As far as my diet, I definitely don’t eat as healthy every meal. But I have been enjoying a smoothie for either lunch or breakfast almost every day! I also find myself eating small snacks/meals throughout the day instead of all at once. This is a good trick for dieting, too.

So far, I’m happy with the direction I’m headed right now!
